Donated Galileoscopes

The Galileoscope Cornerstone Project co-ordinated the design and production of relatively cheap but good quality telescopes for global distribution during the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009). During this process donations were solicited to assist those countries, organisations or individuals who were not able to afford their own Galileoscopes. A committee was established by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) IYA2009 Executive Committee Working Group. The Committee, consisting of role players from across the world, and led by the Developing Astronomy Globally Cornerstone Project, has the task of deciding on and implementing the distribution of the donated Galileoscopes. The Committee also looks at means of soliciting further donations for this project. This call for requests is part of a process to distribute the donated Galileoscopes to recipients across the world.
